Mike Knopfel has a lifelong love of all sports St. Louis having grown up near the St. Louis Hill. Among some of his fondest memories as a young St. Louis sports fan: 1)
Camping out along the outside concourse of Busch Stadium II for Cardinal playoff tickets in 1982. 2)Burning to get home from church in time on Sundays to watch the Football Cardinals perennially tantalize, disappoint -- and sometimes exhilarate -- its devoted fan base. 3) Taking in St. Louis Blues and SLU hockey games at the old Arena, where in the case of Blues-Blackhawks, what was happening in the stands often times surpassed the action on the ice. 4) (And a guilty pleasure) Enjoying Wrestling at the Chase on Channel 11 with Larry Matysik and Ring Announcer Mickey Garagiola – when the bouts, athletes and championship titles were “legit.” Mike was a former sportswriter in Missouri and Georgia and worked in communications and public relations for area entertainment attractions, Fortune 500 companies and PR agencies. He worked with St. Louis pro sports teams and athletes as PR Manager at Ameristar Casino Resort Spa in St. Charles, Mo. Mike is a registered Financial Advisor for the Principal Financial Group office located in Chesterfield. Principal is a Fortune 500 company and is the nation’s largest provider of 401(k) plans. Mike works with individuals and businesses in helping them reach their financial goals.
